Resume Preparation

A resume is a very important document

Your resume gives an employer an understanding of:

  • What you have done in the past
  • What you wish to do in the future
  • Your educational background
  • Your personal traits and characteristics
  • Your desires and interests

A resume is a summary of yourself

Your personal educational, training and work experiences.Your resume should include any relevant documentation that will support your application for employment eg handwritten or typed references, school reports, awards for achievement, and certificates to give you a few examples.

CHECKLIST

After you have drafted a copy of your resume, please consider the following:

  • Is my resume easy to read?
  • Is my resume well presented?
  • Is all the information relevant to the position applied for?
  • Are there any spelling mistakes?
  • Does the resume "sell" me to the employer?
  • Is all the information correct and true?
