Industry Updates - June 2010

Worldskills Australia National competition held in Brisbane 7 to 9 May 2010

Acclaim is very proud to announce that our apprentice Eli Henebery was awarded Bronze in the Wall and Floor Tiling competition at the Worldskills Australia National competition held in Brisbane 7 to 9 May 2010.

Eli has been hosted to King and King Tiling since January 2009. He completed his apprenticeship months earlier than expected due to his hard work and competence on the job.

As part of the competition Eli had to cut and lay 2 tiling projects to exact measurements. Marks were rewarded for Skill, Accuracy, Level, Plumb, Work Practices and Professionalism. There was only a 2 point difference between 1st and 3rd places.

Well done Eli and congratulations!

Acclaim would also like to thank our apprentices Leroy Midgley (Carpenter) and Travis Loors (Carpenter) for attending the Worldskills event as volunteers in the Try’a Trade programme.

The programme allows students/youth to try various trades with hands on experience, speak with the apprentices and trainees and obtain further career information.
